Object Actions

By: Objects & Order

Now that you’ve set up your Blueprints and added objects to your Base, it’s time to explore all the ways you can search, view, select, and utilize your object data.

Let's take a closer look at the Objects Page UI.

First, you'll see the number of objects in your Base. You can page through your objects, or you can search, filter, or sort.

Easily keyword search across all your objects to find the information you need quickly. Here "moon" brings up 79 results.

Build a Custom Query

When you need a more refined search, you can build a custom query with up to 5 filters. You'll filter using the form fields you created in your custom Blueprints.

In this example, we’re searching for objects with a title containing the word “Moon,” that were created before 1700, and for which “engraving” appears in the medium description. The query returned 2 results.

Filter by Blueprint

You can also filter your objects by Blueprint. Here we’re filtering by “Over the Moon Exhibition.”

When you filter by Blueprint, you’ll notice two arrows appear to the right of the + icon for adding a new object. These arrows allow you to import and export object data related to this particular Blueprint.

Filtering Objects by Blueprint

Import Objects

When you click the upward pointing arrow, you’ll be given the option to upload a CSV with object data for the “Over the Moon Exhibition” Blueprint. Learn more about uploading object information in CSV Guidelines.

You’ll also have the option to download a CSV template for the Blueprint.

Importing Object Data via CSV

Download Object Data

When you click the downward pointing arrow, you’ll be given the option to download object data for objects associated with the “Over the Moon Exhibition” Blueprint. You can download as JSON or CSV.

You’ll also have the option to download a CSV template for the Blueprint. Learn more about CSVs in CSV Guidelines.

Change Your View

You can change your view by selecting grid, listed grid, or simple list. Here's the listed grid view, which shows the Blueprints, Added and Modified dates, and Accession Numbers (if provided) for your objects.

Select All or Select an Object

From the actions menu, you can choose to select all the works on a page. You can also select individual works by clicking the check mark in the upper left hand corner of the object.

Selecting Objects

Preview

Once objects are selected, you’ll have the option to Preview them. This creates a slideshow of objects (in the order in which they were selected) that automatically displays image captions (if available).

Previewing Selected Objects

Create PDF

Once objects are selected, you can also generate a PDF. Toggle on the fields for the information you want to include, and drag and drop them into your preferred order.

You’ll see all the fields that apply to the selected objects, so the list of options will likely be extensive. Any fields designated as “Internal” in your Blueprints will appear in red here as a reminder.

Add to Module

Selected objects can also be added to a Module. Modules are digital content features that highlight your objects.

Currently, 2 Module options are available: Featured Object (for highlighting a single object) and Slideshow (for highlighting up to 50 objects).

You can create a new Module or you can add the selected objects to an existing Module.

For more on Modules, see:

Change Primary Blueprint

You can change the Primary Blueprint for a group of objects by selecting the objects and choosing a new Primary Blueprint from the list.

The previous Primary Blueprint will become an associated Blueprint. For more on these designations, see The Art of the Blueprint.
